Bird Theft Prevention and Crime Solving Assistance

The birdtheft.org website was published based on notes of Jan Schotterloher's presentations on protecting aviaries and pet birds from theft.

Preliminary plans have been made to put together statewide and nationwide networks for finding stolen birds and, eventually, a Bird Theft Hotline.

Avicultural Certification

The Professional Fellow Certification Program will be unbiased as to method, but will include inspection of member facilities. OPA's Professional Fellows category will be required to maintain high ethical standards, demonstrate solid husbandry practices and have a minimum of 10 years bird breeding experience. Avicultural members will have the benefit of the knowledge of the Fellowship which will help them qualify for Fellowship status.

Education and Guidance

OPA's educational goals are to develop and implement programs which can benefit any person who has interest in the keeping of birds.
